Oak Hollow Golf Course

Oak Hollow is fortunate to have many unique Pete Dye design elements – rail ties, pot bunkers, multiple peninsula greens and even an island fairway make up the suite of Pete Dye design features. However, their small, wavy greens are their most recognizable Dye brand. The signature hole is the 420-yard, par-4 sixth, a dogleg left around the lapping water of the lake. The island tee at the top offers an aerial eating challenge for the more daring. Other golfers can bite the legs of as many dogs as they feel they can chew. It is an earned value. The second hole, a short par five, is another example of Pete Dyes risk and reward. It sits 456 yards from the tee and invites the golfer to hit the green alone. It’s an easy par-5 when the golfer lines up to the left of a long, narrow green, but almost everyone plays it in twos. Tall hitters who can get a short iron for approach shots have a distinct advantage. Anyone who hits the green with a 5-iron or more relies heavily on luck, as the green is not really designed for that type of shot and the ball often rolls around, making for very difficult chip shots.

The 11th hole, a 437-yard par-4 , may be the most difficult hole on the course, requiring a perfectly placed tee shot. A three-step green at the water’s edge makes this challenging hole more challenging. The 15th hole is a par-5 with a roller coaster and a sharp dogleg left. It takes a long, well-placed detour to get the two home. The second shot requires avoiding a deep ravine to the left of the elevated green. A well placed layup will give you a flat approach of about a hundred yards to this small bunkered green. Finally, the 18th hole is another par-4 that tops out at 448 yards and is a strong final hole. Not only do you need a long tee, but you also need a second hard to carry long iron to the narrow green. Oak Hollow Golf Course is a challenging scenic layout that will test all of your golf skills.
